Julie Iny is an American activist and author of The Flying Camel: Essays on Identity by Women of North African and Middle Eastern Jewish Heritage,[1] she is committed to ending oppression, racism, and antisemitism. She was born to an Ashkenazi mother and Mizrahi father, who originated from Basra, Iraq.[2]
Julie opposes the war in Iraq and has demonstrated so with banner reading, "Iraqi lives are precious". She also commented, that the war is "really inflicting terror on people who were already suffering".[3] She currently resides in Oakland.
